TSRA Foundation Scholarships Information

Applications for the
2023-2024 Academic School year are OPEN

Please follow the directions provided on each application form.
Applications are due electronically to TSRA by 11:59pm on June 15, 2023


Since 2015 the TSRA Foundation has awarded Texas Youth $69,000 in Scholarships funds.
These scholarships have been donated by the generosity of both TSRA Members and private donors.  If you are interested in establishing or donating to a scholarship , please contact  Angela Gerlich at 512-426-1329 or

William T. Clarke Jr. Memorial Scholarship
est. 2015

The William T. Clarke Jr. Memorial Scholarship is available to Texas residents (graduating high school seniors or current university students), who must be a TSRA member, have a shooting background, be a full-time student, and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or greater at their selected Texas college or university. Clarke Scholarships are for students with a shooting background. Clarke Scholarships will be for $2,000, with $1,000 awarded for the fall semester, and if scholarship criteria are maintained, another $1,000 awarded for the spring semester.

Memorial Scholarships

 

The TSRA Foundation “Paul Bartlett & Kitty Benson” Memorial Scholarships in honor of:

Mr. Paul Bartlett, Past-President of the Texas State Rifle Association a coached, worked, and strongly supported Junior and Adult Shooting Programs.  He conducted matches and shooting Championships and provided leadership for TSRA and for Greenwood Gun Club for many years.


Mrs. Kitty Benson was the wife of TSRA Past-President Don Benson.  She volunteered many years helping and supporting Junior shooting teams in Texas and at the National Matches. 

These scholarships are available to Texas residents (graduating high school seniors or current university students), who must be a TSRA member, have a shooting background, be a full-time student, and maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or greater at their selected Texas college or university. Bartlett & Benson Scholarships are for students with a shooting background. The Scholarships will be for $1,000, with $500 awarded for the fall semester, and if scholarship criteria are maintained, another $500 awarded for the spring semester.

Sportsman’s Scholarship
est. 2018

The TSRA Foundation Sportsman’s has been established thru the generosity of an anonymous donor for use at their selected Texas college or university. The Sportsman’s scholarships is dedicated to recognize, encourage and promote the education of our future leaders in wildlife management, hunting heritage and activities, firearm safety, and conservation of Texas wildlife. Students majoring in programs that enhance hunting and firearm safety, wildlife management, and wildlife conservation can apply. TSRAF Sportsman’s scholarships awarded will be for $2,000, with $1,000 awarded for the fall semester, and if scholarship criteria are maintained, another $1,000 awarded for the spring semester.

Standard Application Guidelines

Standard applications notes for all available scholarships.  Some scholarships may have additional criteria, please review each application carefully.

  • Applicants may be active in any firearm related discipline.

  • Applicants must be a Texas/U.S. resident and a current TSRA member.

  • Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student at a Texas institution of higher learning. This includes but is not limited to: Junior college, 4-year College/University, Trade or Vocational institutions. 

  • High School Seniors may apply but must show proof of acceptance to their selected Texas institution of higher learning.

  • Current college students must have an overall GPA as outlined on each scholarship application.

  • Applicants must be enrolled/accepted as a full-time College/University student in Texas. Applicant must remain a full-time student throughout the entirety of the academic semester.  A full-time student is defined as a minimum of 12 hours per semester.  (Graduate students are not eligible.)

  • Automatic renewal of an awarded scholarship is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the TSRA Foundation Board of Directors annually with review and approval.

  • Applicants may apply for any and all TSRA/TSRAF related scholarships; however recipient may only be granted one annually.
